Simple - why on earth couldn't they have said or suggested such in the instructions. Then I could get to the extra settings: First, changed the network settings to Static, added in a suitable IP address (one that I also set as static in my router) and pointed the device at my Gateway. Typed in the address into the browser and I could log in with admin/admin. I unplugged the device plugged the device from the power, turned off the Mac's WiFi and then plugged the device back into the power and used the direct network cable connection. My network address uses a different for the y part so maybe that's why? I why on earth don't they mention those IP's in the instructions, just the address which once connected via the device just takes one through to the dodgy external website!
